Sodium bicarbonate, also known as baking soda, is a gentle abrasive used in many commercial products for skin treatments in order to delicately get rid of dead cells and impurities of the face and the body.

Recipe No. 1 : Anti-acne Mask made of Baking Soda and Orange

 
  • 1 tablespoonful of sodium bicarbonate
  • 1 tablespoonful of orange juice

In a bowl or mortar, mix the bicarbonate and orange juice. Apply a thin layer of this natural mask to the face and let it act for about 15 to 20 minutes. It is also possible to apply it to the neck and cleavage.

 

Some people find it useful to moisten the ends of the fingers and to massage the face in circular movements in order to obtain a wider exfoliation.

 

There is nothing more left for you to do but to rinse the face properly.

 

The acid contained in orange juice tightens the pores and the vitamin C gently clears up the scheme.

 

Recipe No. 2 : Nourishing Mask made of Baking Soda and Oat

 
  • 1 tablespoon of baking soda
  • 2 tablespoons of oatmeal
  • 1 tablespoon of water

Mix the three ingredients carefully in a bowl and apply this nourishing mask to the face. Let it act for about 12 minutes before rinsing the face for ruling thoroughly.

 

Oats is a cereal reputed for its exceptional nutritional value (a source of magnesium, phosphorus, manganese, iron, selenium, zinc and vitamin B1 ) and its remineralizing, emollient, and nourishing properties.

 

Oats also has a soothing effect on the skin (anti-irritant) and anti-inflammatory that can be useful in certain cases to treat acne.

 

Recipe No. 3 : Bicarbonate and Strawberry Cleansing Mask

 
  • 1 tablespoon of baking soda
  • 1 half cup of strawberries cut and sliced
  • 1 tablespoon of yoghurt
  • 1 tablespoon of honey
  • 1 egg white
  • 2 tablespoons of almonds

In a mixer, mix the six ingredients to as smooth and homogenous paste.

 Apply this scrubbing mask to the face and let it act for 5 to 10 minutes. Remove facial mask by washing the face with tepid water and then by applying your usual moisturising lotion.

 

This natural treatment allows the skin to be rid of dead cells in order to speed up cell renewal.


Recipe No. 4 : Purifying Mask of Baking Soda and Beer Yeast

 
  • 1 tablespoon of baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon of beer yeast
  • 1 tablespoon of water
  • 1 powdered vitamin C tablet

Mix the four ingredients in a bowl and apply this cleansing mask to the face. Let it act for 15 to 20 minutes.

 

The purpose of this mask is most importantly to purify the skin of the face. This recipe was conceived in order to help regain a healthy and brilliant skin.

 

The live yeasts contained in beer yeast act against many skin problems such as acne, hides and boils.

 

As in the case of this mask, vitamin C when applied topically helps to improve the texture and colouration of the skin. The presence of vitamin C in the dermis layer of skin is essential in this synthesis of collagen. Collagen is a protein of the dermal structure that plays a role in the supporting tissue under the epidermis.

 

Recipe No. 5 : Refreshing Mask of Baking Soda and Cucumber

 
  • 1 tablespoon of baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon of oatmeal
  • 1 tablespoon of honey
  • 1/2 peeled cucumber
  • 1/2 tablespoon of cider vinegar

Mix the ingredients in a blender to a homogenous texture. Apply this refreshing mask to the face and leave it for 20 minutes. Rinse with tepid water.

 

This natural mask has the purpose of soothing sensitive skin irritated by external agents. It moistens the skin and mitigates the marks of tiredness and stress.

 

Recipe No. 6 : Moisturizing Mask of Baking Soda and Olive Oil

 
  • 2 tablespoon of baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon of extra virgin cold pressed olive oil

Mix and apply this moisturizing mask to the face for 15 to 20 minutes then wash the face carefully.

 

It is no longer a secret that olive oil is excellent for the skin. It has the properties to smooth and moisturise normal or dry skin, due most notably to the roles of essential fatty acids and vitamin E that it contains.

 

Olive oil also has the advantage of being antioxidant, softening, nourishing, and antiseptic, which helps to protect problem-prone skin and care for it.




Precautions and recommendations

 

Some of these masks described before have the inconvenience of creating prickly or itchy sensations on the parts of the face to which they are exposed.

 

Try to distract yourself for a bit by watching television or by doing your nails in order to forget a little this discomfort.

 

Above all don’t speak! The mixture will dry up and facial movements will risk peeling the masque.

 

The face can become lightly red after the application of the mask. It is normal. This colour will disappear after about half an hour.

 

If your skin is sensitive, I would advise you not to apply the mask to the whole face but only to the problem zones (nose, chin, temples, etc.)
